WHO ARE WE
SAIIE is a study abroad program founded in 1984 in Seville, Spain affiliated to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL).
SAIIE is a family program, the 3 current directors are all siblings (Samantha, Stuart & Sean), were born and raised in Seville, Spain but have all studied college in the US, lived abroad, and travelled the world. They are all fanatics of sports, compete at various sports, and were all student-athletes when they studied abroad in the US. All the SAIIE directors are bilingual (Spanish/English), and are fluent in french.
WHAT CAN WE OFFER
SAIIE PROGRAM INCLUDES:
- On site staff (bilingual)
- 24/7 support throughout the duration of the program.
- Airport reception in Seville and transportation to the city near Spanish homes on arrival date / And transportation to airport on departure date
- Housing with Spanish family with most meals (except from Friday dinner until Sunday lunch) / or student dorms (depends on availibility)
- Welcome and farewell meals
VOLLEYBALL CAMP INCLUDES:
- 1-4 week volleyball camps for men, women or both teams in Seville Spain.
- Access to volleyball training grounds to practice.
- Friendly matches against other Spanish volleyball teams.
- Gym facilities throughout your stay (optional).
ACTIVITIES SUCH AS:
- Visit a ceramic workshop (students learn history about the ceramics at a local neighbourhood and built their own ceramic)
- Visit a local olive oil farm (includes olive oil tasting)
- Spanish cooking workshop (students learn how to make some typical Spanish dishes). Students here will actually learn and make the dishes.
- Visit to a Flamenco show
- Flamenco ("Sevillanas") lessons.
- Visit the Cathedral of Seville (largest gothic cathedral in the world)
- Visit the Royal Alcazar Palace.
- Visit Plaza España.
- Visit to Barrio de Santa Cruz (old jewish quarter)
- Go watch a professional live Spanish soccer match (depending time of the year)
DAY AND OVERNIGHT TRIPS:
- Day trips around Southern Spain: (Córdoba, Ronda or Cadiz beach trip) and 2 weekend trips to northern Africa or Portugal.
Finally the most important thing, we are a family program which we believe gives us a competitite egde with these type of small programs because one of the directors will always be with the group, and will be showing and teaching the group many typical things from the local aspect of the culture of Seville, and southern Spain that otherwise the group would have missed (Tapas bar known for it best Jamón, Tortilla, Paella, or best place for Ice Cream, to go shopping, running, etc).
